OUR APPROACH

Collaborating to catalyze equity in the workforce field.

NRWC leverages a community of practice (CoP) approach to drive most of what we do. While we are more than a CoP, the foundational principles shape our values and are infused in all we do.

Strategic Partnership

Continuous Learning

Equity & Access

Thoughtful Innovation

As a national network, NRWC strategically partners with reentry program practitioners, employers, advocates, government agencies, researchers, and funders. This is our trifold approach:

COMMUNITY BUILDING

The workforce reentry field is fragmented and there are few opportunities for practitioners to share ideas with others. NRWC builds a community of practice for providers to share ideas and take collective action to advance the field.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY

There is a need to elevate the voices of practitioners and those they serve to inform policy and practice. NRWC convenes practitioners and other stakeholders to advance effective workforce policies and practices for people who are impacted by the justice system.

FIELD BUILDING

Practitioners in the field face barriers in implementing and assessing evidence-informed programs and lack the language to translate the impact of their work. NRWC provides access to services, tools, and resources that address barriers, close gaps and set standards in the field.

WHAT WE

EXPECT

Increasing equity and access for people impacted by the justice system

by advancing federal, state, and local efforts to provide resources and support to reentry and workforce services that address the needs of marginalized job seekers while helping local businesses, especially small and medium sized businesses, hire and retain skilled talent.

Facilitating collaboration among reentry workforce stakeholders

by hosting meetings that create space for engaging one another, building meaningful relationships, and identifying ways to work together.

Building the field for reentry workforce providers

by providing credentialing programs to train and certify providers and leaders of reentry workforce programs and organizations using evidence-based practices and identified standards in the field, as well as developing a resource center to provide a suite of value-added tools, resources, and services to members of NRWC and the reentry workforce field.

Serving as a feedback loop for decision makers

by presenting data and stories on what is working effectively in communities to federal and state government representatives, policy makers, employers, and funders.
